Welcome.
I’m Katie, the founder of ARCHĒA Therapy. I work with people who are self-aware and insightful, but still feel flooded, activated, or stuck in the same emotional loops when it matters most.
If you’ve ever thought “I understand this, so why can’t I change it?” you’re exactly who I built this for.
Meet the Founder
I know what it's like to understand yourself completely and still not be able to change.
To have done the therapy. Read the books. Developed the language. To be able to explain your attachment style, name the wound, trace the pattern back to its origin and still find yourself in the same emotional loop, wondering why nothing shifts at the level that actually matters.
I spent years like that. Fluent in my own psychology. Articulate about everything that was broken. Completely unable to actually fix it.
I'm Katie. I'm the founder of ARCHĒA, a certified RTT practitioner with a background in Psychology, and someone who has lived on both sides of this work. As the person who held everything together so well that nobody thought to ask if I was okay, and as the person who finally stopped holding it and found something better on the other side.
My story isn't a tidy before and after.
I grew up learning that love had to be earned and safety had to be managed. I became extraordinarily good at reading rooms, anticipating needs, and making myself useful, because useful meant staying. I carried that operating system into every relationship, every workplace, every version of my adult life, doing it so fluently that I stopped noticing it had a name.
The name is over-functioning. And it has a cost that nobody counts.
I was a capable woman in a corporate career, a single mother, building businesses alongside everything else, holding every thread without letting anyone see my hands cramp. From the outside my life looked like it was working. From the inside I was white-knuckling every single day.
Talking about it helped, to a point. I understood my patterns. I could explain them. But understanding something and actually changing it at the level where it lives are two completely different things. It's what happens when the conscious mind tries to outthink a subconscious program that was built for survival.
RTT changed that. Not because it gave me new insights, but because it went underneath the insights entirely. To the subconscious. To the programming. To the instructions written on me before I had any say in the matter. Something shifted in my body, not just my understanding. And I have never experienced anything else that works at that level.
That discovery is what ARCHĒA is built on.
Who I Work With
I work with capable women who are exhausted by their own capability. People who have already done the talking, who know what's wrong and why, and are done with another twelve weeks of circling the same ground. Anyone who has spent years trying to think their way out of something that doesn't live in the thinking mind.
I also work with men. And this work matters to me for them especially, because the world has not made it easy for men to do it.
Men come to me through partners who have run out of words. Through relationships that are unraveling. Through their own quiet recognition that something is running underneath that they cannot reach. They often arrive guarded. Sometimes carrying labels that have been thrown at them. Narcissistic. Avoidant. Emotionally unavailable. Whether any of those words actually fit or not, they haven't changed anything. They've just put a name on a pattern without ever doing the work of finding where it came from, or how to update it.
The room I hold for men is different.
It's warm without being soft in the dismissive way. Honest without being critical. There is no shaming, no diagnosis, no making him the villain of his own story. Just a clear, grounded conversation with someone who can see what's actually running, name it precisely, and help him update it at the level it lives. He doesn't have to find the right words first. He doesn't have to perform vulnerability he doesn't have language for. He just has to be willing to look.
The male loneliness epidemic is real. The cost of unprocessed shame, unmet need, and never-allowed-to-feel is real. And the number of men who genuinely want to do the work but cannot find a way in that doesn't shame them, label them, or ask them to be someone they aren't yet, is staggering.
This is the work that gives them a way in.
I'm not writing from the other side of all of this. I'm in the middle of my own becoming, like most of the people I work with. But I've done enough of the real work to know what it feels like when something actually shifts. And to help other people, men and women both, find that same ground.
If you've been trying to change from the neck up, this is the work that goes underneath.
Why this work matters to me
There’s a reason this work matters so much to me. I was the same.
I did therapy for years. I was good at it, too. I could intellectualise everything. I could make meaning, explain the pattern, connect it back to trauma, and understand the “why” from every angle.
But I still couldn’t change it.
My nervous system response was fast. Before I could take a beat, I’d be in the loop. The protectors would come out in full force. My nervous system alarming danger, when the threat was tied to the past. Old habits, old reactions, the same learned responses repeating themselves, even when I knew better.
And that’s the part that can make you feel like something is wrong with you.
It isn’t.
It’s what happens when the conscious mind tries to outthink a subconscious program that was built for survival.
When I found this work, something finally clicked. Not in an intellectual way, but in a whole-system way. I started to experience what it felt like to pause. To feel the feeling without attaching meaning to it. To stop treating emotions like instructions. To respond from the person I wanted to be, not the pattern I’d rehearsed.
That’s what ARCHĒA is built for.
Not more insight. Not more analysing. A deeper update, so your conscious choices don’t have to fight your subconscious programming. So the change becomes natural, not forced.
What ARCHĒA means
ARCHĒA (ar-KAY-uh) comes from the Ancient Greek archē: origin, beginning, first principle.
It’s the heart of my work. We don’t just manage the symptoms. We return to the beginning of the pattern, shift what’s been driving it, and help your system integrate a new baseline.
You’re not broken. You’re patterned. And patterns can change.
The Work + The Modality
My style is warm, grounded, and structured. I’m not here to push you, perform for you, or rush you through something vulnerable. I’m here to help you feel safe enough to go to the root, and supported enough to integrate what shifts.
You can expect:
a calm, steady space where you don’t have to “hold it together”
clarity and direction, without overwhelm
a process that’s deep, but still practical
support that honours both insight and the nervous system
ARCHĒA is supported by Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), a root-cause modality that works with the subconscious mind, where many core beliefs and automatic responses are formed and stored.
This work is especially powerful if you’re someone who:
understands your patterns but still feels hijacked in the moment
is great at intellectualising, but wants change that actually holds
keeps repeating the same loop under stress (overthinking, people-pleasing, shutting down, reassurance seeking)
is ready to go deeper than coping strategies and surface-level tools
ARCHĒA (Archea Therapy) offers root cause therapy online via Zoom, based in Brisbane.
